Connecting GLB-502T to the computer

1.
Connect the adapter supplied with the unit. The power LED will turn
ON to indicate proper operation.
Note: Connection to
the router GLB-502T can be made using the Ethernet Interface (or) USB
interface.
2. Connect the LAN interface to the Network Interface Card of the PC through a switch or directly using the Ethernet cable provided with the unit. The Ethernet LED will glow as soon as the Ethernet link is established. Refer to the section 'Connecting GLB-502T to the computer'.
3. To connect using the USB port, first install the USB drivers provided in the CD and connect the USB cable from PC to the USB port of GLB-502T. The USB LED will glow as soon as the USB cable is connected. Refer to the section 'Connecting GLB-502T to the computer'.
4. Connect the telephone line coming from exchange/service provider to the “LINE’ port of GLB-502T. ADSL LED will glow when ADSL connection is established with the ISP. Connect the telephone to the Phone port of the GLB-502T.

USB Installation of GLB-502T
You can connect the router to the computer either via USB or Ethernet (LAN) interface. If you connect via USB, you need to install the drivers for the router.
USB drivers installation.
Insert the driver CD that came with the router. Connect the GLB-502T to the computer via the USB.


When the router is connected to the computer, you should get the ‘New Hardware Found’ message. Make sure the router is switched ON.

Click Next.

Select ‘Install the software automatically (Recommended)’ and click Next.

Windows will automatically search the drivers for GLB-502T.

If you get the ‘Logo test’ or 'Digital Signature' message, click ‘Continue Anyway’ to proceed.

Click Finish.

The drivers would get installed.

An icon for ‘TI USB Remote NDIS Adapter’ should appear in Network Connections.

Verify the IP address obtained by the USB adapter. Right click the USB icon in Network connections, and click on ‘Status’. In the window that appears click ‘Support’. It should display the IP address obtained by the USB adapter.

You can also verify the obtained IP address in command prompt. Click Start – run – type cmd and press enter. In the command prompt type ipconfig and press enter.
Note : If the IP address is not obtained automatically, you need to assign a static IP address to the interface manually. Refer to the 'Troubleshooting' section.

Try to ping the router IP address, and check the reply. Click Start – run – type cmd and press enter. In the command prompt type ping 192.168.1.1 and press enter.

Access the web configuration of the router in Internet Explorer using its IP address. In the address bar of Internet Explorer type http://192.168.1.1 and press enter. The default username & password of the router is 'admin'. After login, you should see the home page as shown below.
If you are connecting the router via LAN (Ethernet), make sure the LAN card is installed in the computer.
Connect the LAN cable between the router and computer. The LAN LED on the front panel should glow.
The local area connection should display as connected, and obtain an IP address.
Note : If the IP address is not obtained automatically, you need to assign a static IP address to the interface manually. Refer to the 'Troubleshooting' section.
GLB-502T can be configured in 4 different modes (PPPoE, Bridge, Static & DHCP), depending on the settings provided by the ISP.
Note : You need to use only ONE, out of the 4 modes.
Usually ISPs provide a username/password and VPI/VCI values which you need to enter in the router. Some ISPs also provide Static IP addresses with VPI/VCI values.
Mostly PPPoE is used in which the router automatically connects to the internet when switched ON. Bridge mode is used when you want to manually connect to the internet, or connecting another device to GLB-502T that is capable of PPPoE dialing. In this case, username/password is saved in that device.
Kindly confirm the details provided by your ISP. Configurations for major ISPs are provided in this guide. Click on the configuration against your ISP.

1. How
do I assign a static IP address to the computer?
Windows 2000
Step 1: Right-click on My Network Places and select Properties.
Step 2: Right-click on the Local Area Connection, which represents
your network card, and select Properties.
Step 3: Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
Enter your IP information for your network.
If connecting to a router, make sure the default gateway and a DNS
server is the IP address of the router (192.168.1.1).
Windows XP:
Step 4: Click on Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet
Connections > Network connections.
Step 5: See Step 2 for Windows 2000 and continue from there.
2. How
to verify what IP address (Dynamic IP) has been obtained in case of dynamic IP
address assignment?
Windows 2000/XP
To release and renew IP address, go to Start > Run. Type in CMD
and press Enter. At the prompt, type in ipconfig and press Enter. This will
display the adapter information such as IP address, Subnet mask, and default
gateway.
To view additional information such as Mac address, DNS servers,
etc, type in ipconfig /all.
To release IP address, type ipconfig /release.
To renew IP address, type ipconfig
/renew.
3. How
do I reset the router to factory defaults?
The following reset procedure will completely restore the default settings
on the router including your password.
Step 1: Locate the Factory Reset pinhole marked 'F' on the back of
the unit.
Step 2: With the router powered on, press and hold the Reset
button.
Step 3: Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.
Step 4: Release the Reset button.
Step 5: The device is now at factory defaults.
4. What
should I do if ADSL is OFF on the router?
1. Make sure the telephone
line from the ISP/exchange is properly connected to the “LINE’ port of
GLB-502T.
2. Power cycle the router. Un-plug the power cable and connect it
back after 20 seconds. Now check the ADSL LED status.
3. If still the issue persists, check the Logs in the web
configuration on the Status > System Log page for messages such as ‘DSL
Carrier is down’ or ‘DSL Carrier is Training’.
If so, kindly contact the ISP and get the DSL line verified with their
test device.
5. What
should I do if the LAN/USB LED is OFF on the router?
1. In
case of Ethernet connection, make sure the Ethernet cable is properly connected
to the router and the PC.
2. In
case of USB connection, make sure the USB cable is properly connected to the
router and the PC.
3. Power
cycle the router. Un-plug the power cable and plug it back after 20 seconds.
4. Unplug
the USB cable and connect it back.
5. If
issue still persists, kindly restart the computer.
6. What
should I do if PPPoE is OFF even after the configuring the Internet settings
Kindly follow the steps given below
1.Make sure the ADSL LED is steady.
If not, please refer to Question no 4 for the same.
2. Kindly re-verify the internet settings
done in the router is as provided by the ISP

3. Power cycle the router. Unplug the power cable and plug it back after
20 seconds. Now check the ADSL LED & PPPOE LED status.
4. If still the PPPOE LED is off, check the Logs in the web
configuration on the Status > System Log page for messages “PAP/CHAP
Authentication Failed”. This indicates wrong username/password. Kindly
re-verify the username/password settings with the ISP.
5. If still the issue persists, reset the
router to factory defaults, reconfigure the settings and check the internet
connection.
7. What should I do if I get ‘PAP/CHAP
Authentication error’ indicate in the logs of the router?
Re-verify the username and password provided by the ISP and
reconfigure the router with right username and password.
In case of same error contact the ISP and verify the username &
password for your internet account.
8. What
should I do if I get ‘Error 678/691’ when I dial the Internet connection?
Kindly follow the steps given below
1. Make sure the ADSL LED is steady.
If not, please refer to Question no 4 for the same.
2. Kindly re-verify the username/password as provided by the ISP.
3. Power cycle the router. Unplug the power cable and plug it back
after 20 seconds and check the connection
4.If the issue still persists, please contact the ISP to verify the
account settings.
9. I’m
unable to access certain websites.
Verify the DNS IP addresses assigned to the computer. Try assigning ISP specific DNS addresses or universal DNS addresses 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
Try modifying the MTU value in the router.
Step 1 : Log into the web configuration of the router by typing the
IP address http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. A prompt for user name and password should appear. Type 'admin'
as username and password both and click on login.
Step 2 : Click on setup and then name tab.
Step 3 : Now change the MTU 1492, 1482, 1472 i.e decrease it in
steps of 10 and check whether now you are able to open those sites.
Apply and save the settings each time the MTU value is changed.
10.
How do I forward ports on the router?
Refer to the steps below to forward ports in the router.
Step 1 Open your browser, enter the IP address of your router
(192.168.1.1) and click OK.
Step 2 Enter your username (admin) and the password would be admin, which is the default password. Click OK to enter the web configuration page for the device.
Step 3 Click on Advanced tab and then click on LAN Clients and add
the IP address of the computer/device you want to forward ports for.
Step 4 Click on the Advanced tab and click on port forwarding on
the left side.
Step 5 Click on user and create a new rule.
Give the rule name and select the TCP and UDP both as the protocol,
and specify port start, port end and port map. You need to verify the port
number to be forwarded.
Click on apply and add it to the applied rules and now click on
Tools - System commands and save all and restart.
11.
How do I configure DDNS on the router?
Refer to the steps mentioned below to configure DDNS on GLB-502T.
1. Access the web configuration of the router using its IP address
192.168.1.1
2 Click on the Advanced - Dynamic DNS Client
3. Select the Internet connection you have created on the Setup
page.
4. Select the DDNS server (e.g. DynDNS) and enable the DDNS client.
5. Specify the username and password of your DynDNS account.
(Note : You need to register with DynDNS.org and create a host
name)
6. Specify the domain name (e.g. homeip.net, homeftp.net,
dyndns.com). Please note that you need the specify only the domain name, and
not the hostname. For example if your hostname is 'mysite.homeip.net', the
domain name would be 'homeip.net'.
7. Apply the settings.
8. Go to Tools - System Commands and click on Save All, followed by
Restart.
Whenever the router reboots and obtains a new IP
address, it would update the same at the DynDNS site. It would take couple of
minutes for the IP to get updated depending on the speed internet connectivity
and the site.
